Can i burn film files to a CD-R.

I think I read that a CD-R's hold like 700mb and I noticed that most film files (DVDrips) are about 690mb, so that makes sense.

So if I burn a file to a CD-R it will work in my DVD player?

If so, what do i burn it as, AVI, MPG

Im not to sure what you burn it as, but as long as your dvd player plays cd-r's or cd-rw's then you will be able to burn them to cds instead of dvds.

well, if it is a stand allone dvd player, you should read the manual.
if it your pc dvd, it will work

note, most standalone dvdplayers only play dvd ,some mpeg ,"svcd cd's" and jpg

if you have a newer model it will also play divx ( if so burn as avi(xvid))

-What files can I burn to a DVD-R or CD-R that will work on a DVD player with Divx (other words, what files does Divx read)

well, for cd on dvdplayer, if you're not sure, convert to VCD or SVCD. Nero burning rom will automaticly convert to vcd/svcd from Mpeg or AVI, this wil take some time though!

note: you should realy post in the cd-r dvd-r section of afterdawn!

retro78, I just found that one out, that Nero convert automaticly. Man does that makes things a whole lot easier. I think they just convert it so VCD or SVCD or something. Well the CD-R works fine in my player.

Will Nero do the same thing with DVD-R? Like convert AVI, WMP into MPEG1 or 2
