VirtualDub and VirtualDubMod are editors.
You need to join and so there are far quicker and simpler solutions.
Your files are most probably one of three types:
AVI, MPEG or DAT.
JOINING:
AVI & MPEG:
AVI/MPEG/RM/WMV Joiner v4.81
http://www.boilsoft.com/avi-mpeg-rm-joiner.html
It's simple enough not to need directions.
DAT:
Working with a DAT file is a bit more involved, yet simple enough.

Ignore steps 1 and 4.
Complete steps 2 and 3.
Ignore the following, unless you want a DVD.
CONVERSION:
You'll have to convert your file next:
1ST Choice:
http://www.vso-software.fr/divxtodvd/divxtodvd.htm
Load your file into DivxToDVD.
If the aspect ratio (height and width) looks correct in the preview window, proceed.
2ND Choice:
http://www.winavi.com/
WinAVI Video Converter is some people's first choice, but I prefer it as an alternate.
Load your file, proceed and the result should have no problems.
BURNING:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm
http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/dvdshrink.html
Ignore steps 1-4 and proceed with steps 5-7 as though the folder in which you saved your file is the disk.
At stage 8, select your DVD burner.
Nero kicks in and handles the rest.
Check out Mayo's guides, for alternate burning methods amongst other things:

It's almost a one stop shop and is certainly an excellent place to begin!
You'll need certain pieces of information, regarding some of the above software.

Good luck!
