Is it possible to make backups from DVD X Copy backups?

Hi everyone,

I just made 5 coasters trying to make a backup of a DVD X Copy Platinum backup.

I Have since switched to more up-to-date backup methods (thanks to this forum) but want a backup of a DVD X Copy Platinum (pre-court version)disk.

I managed to encode the disk successfully each time using the latest versions of DVD Decryptor, DVD shrink, but when attempting to burn with Nero, all resulted in freezes prior to completion with no error messages.

Searched all the forums for help with no success.

1) Is it possible to burn backups from DVD X Copy backups?
2) If so, anybody know how?
3) Is there a help thread I may have missed?

Thanks again to all who contribute their knowledge to this site.

I use Record Now to backup a copy - which I burnt with DVD Express

Your backup is already compressed so just use DVD Decrypter in iso mode read/write. Check this guide

Thanks, ILHS86, but my first attempt was with Record Now which I also used to burn. The result was a partial burn (about 30%). I may try it again at 1X instead of MAX and see what happens.

ScubaPete revealed this to me last year: DVDXCopy backups are not even encrypted! You can just copy the backup as if it were a data disc to your hard drive and burn from there with Nero. 123 Studios said you could not use DVDXCopy to make a copy of a DVDXCopy backup, which is why people believed the backups were still encrypted. They are not. I guess that's why DVDXCopy was shut down. ;)

I use Alcohol 120% to copy my x-copy discs. Works everytime!
