I just bought a 710ul and am having some major problems. I've read some of the other posts but nothing has been able to help yet. PLEASE HELP! let me explain... the software i use to encode is dvd shrink, to burn i usually use nero, but i have tried dvd decrypter and the generic ibm writing software as well, both with the same result. During the burn process, everything is fine until the progress bar has reached the mid thirties (percent finished). Then nero informs me that there was an error. "ERROR reading data." and the burn process fails. I read in another thread that memorex brand dvdr's were not reliable when it comes to the sony products so i ditched them and went for the sony certified verbatim, still doesnt work. There is nothing wrong with the files themselvs, i have tried many different movies, all can be viewed fine on the comp using an appropriate media player, but none will burn using nero, ibm, or dvd decrypter. I tried encoding to a specific region instead of leaving it as region free, i've slowed down my write speed to 4x, i've made sure my usb port is compatible (2.0), nothing seems to be working.
