I am new to this software. I wonder if anyone can help me with this. I have successfully download rm video steam from the KCRW radio website, however, for their audio steam, I can't. I wonder why. One thing I notice is that the URL link and file type are somewhat different... it's something like ram_wrap.cgi.ram. Is that something to do with cgi script?? It would be really appreicated if someone can give a clue. The link I wanted to download is:
Just curious. Is there some typical tricks I can do to look for the real URL for this kind of link? I did read your other threat about URL Snooper and viewing source code... would the URL Snooper see the real URL?
You can download the redirector and open it with a text editor to see the source code and stream URL.
You can use several different methods to just directly on-line view the source code and stream URL.
You can use a URL Snooper or packet sniffer to get the stream URL.
Thanks for starting this thread! It is very informative, and KCRW morning becomes eclectic rocks.
I still haven't been able to figure out how to view the stream info. when i save the cgi-bin link, all i get in that file is the same http address (i.e. http://www.kcrw.com/cgi-bin/smil_wrap.cgi?/mb/mb050331Beck). how/what do i need to do so that i can actually see the stream code?
you can right-mouse-click and press "save link as" onto your desktop, and then open it with a word editor (WordPad or something like that), you will be able to see the true URL link which is near the bottom:
rtsp://go.rbn.com/livecon/kcrw/g2demand//mb/mb050331Beck.rm
Anyway, I have been using the shortcut method for the other kcrw show I wanted to download, it is to use the link listed above and just change the file name. For instance, another archive show I found of Beck featuring the Flaming Lips on Dec 2002:
rtsp://go.rbn.com/livecon/kcrw/g2demand//mb/mb021224Beck_and_The_Flaming.rm
Try that first.
P.S.: I am still trying to find a more complete method to look at those URL link, especially flash and javascript webpages. Do share if you find out anything.
