So I was having some problems with my latest DVDs freezing up in some parts of the movie.

I switched it a better media starting burning of 4X speed and its still doing this.
I previously copied 40+ movies without a problem.
I'm thinking it might be the latest Decrypter update only because this problem has started since this update.
I really have no idea, and its really ticking me off.

Any thoughts?

I decrypt, then shrink then burn with decrypter.

Have you tried going back to the older version of Decrypter that worked?

No not yet, but it seems to be working fine for everyone else.
It only freezes for a 5 seconds then continues and varies every little bit. Really bothering me.

Do you have another program that will burn DVD's? Nero or Alcohol 120%? I use Alcohol to burn, myself.

I was thinking about that, but why would my normal way suddenly not work? Something is messed up.
I tried my other DVD player but it is also doing the same thing my Xbox does.

I've starting to make coasters here, not fun.

OK, so I copied Napolean Dynamite fine. But I just tried Saving Private Ryab. Unfortunetley is freezes up, then continues to play.
I tried even switching back to the old media I used which was garbage but had worked for me previously numerous of times, but with no success.

I'm really stumped on this one. Nothing is more agonizing then trying to watch a fantastic flick like Saving Private Ryan, and it keeps locking up in spots.

does the movie play fine if you watch it on your computer? Could just be your DVD player doesn't like the discs. I went through a period of time where my DVD player wouldn't play any backups, and it would play all of them before. Then one day it just stopped giving me problems altogether. That was about a year ago and I haven't had a problem since. Weird...

Yes I did update my writers firmware and I've tried Kodak DVD-R
BenQ and Maxell.
When playing them on my computer I only noticed the movie freeze once for a short second.
But how come the same media I have used over and over suddenley freezes up on my Xbox and other 2 dvd players.

Very frustrating.

Do you have any programs running in the background?? Anti Virus etc.
Have you checked for ad ware or spyware lately??
Do you multitask while burning??
Do you browse the web while burning??

Any or all of the above could cause playback problems. Just thought I'd add some input.

try downloading dvdinfopro (the latest trial was due to expire today as i recall) but there should be a new one today or very shortly. Use it to check for CRC errors.

wajax, I notice you keep saying that. Are you burning these ISO files as data? ISO files should only be burned by programs that specify for ISO. Decrypter is one. I've never had a problem burning ISO yet. I think it's easier to burn ISO files, as it's just 1 file, not as easy to screw up (good for newbs).

uh whoa there - who said anything about "burning .iso as data " that makes no sense ".iso is data . i never burn as .iso its quick and unreliable that might be why it's good for newbs as you say .but when you rip a movie in file mode the files go into a single folder -so when you use a program like Nero vision express and choose" make a dvd video" you just import the whole folder then you get a true dvd . some people cant see the difference -people like me can pick an .iso made dvd out anyday - or one that is poor quality --iso and poor quality go hand in hand .

I use to create numerous coasters. I started using the best media and coaster creation was reduced a bit. Then I switched my ripping/recoding software to VSO and not only is there a serious coaster shortage now, but I can recode a 2 1/2 to 3 hr movie and it fits on a single dvd. The best part is that quality has improved and I can burn at maximum speed.

I'm a huge fan of VSO. They put out some brilliant app that are rock solid. I like how they don't subscribe to the "everything but the kitchen sink" theory. Their apps are focused on more specific task and boy do they do them well.
