Disclaimer: I'm a scared and clueless newbie.

Everytime I try to burn a DVD-R, my burning process just stops around 40%. "Stops" meaning Nero (newest version, downloaded yesterday) freezes for 15min and then says "burning failed".

It looks like the computer isn't communicating with the drive. (The drive is blinking but the computer isn't loading anything --or so it seems)

Here's what Nero CD-DVD Drive says, when I run a test on the DVD-R:

(thanks www.imageshack.us !)

Since I don't really know what it could be, heres some info from the InfoTool:

Do I need to update my firmware? If so, how (preferably not in DOS :( )?
Is it a driver problem?
Could it be the DVD-R even if I tried different ones?
Am I screwed?

Thanks for reading and posting :)

Yes,
I'm having a similar problem.

GATEWAY computer
DVD burner doesnt burn, but CD burner works fine.

Do I need a new drive? It appears to burn 12x in CD mode, and only 2x in DVD mode.

This sucks!
