when i go to install xp. .can use as a slave drive but not a primary. error says"make sure drive is switched on an connected to pc.if disk is scsi make sure processes are terminated consult pc manual or scsi document"wtf is that .plez any 1.

oh yeah ,i called hp an they said it was something that they could fix over the phone but since my warrenty is expired ,tough luck!

does the bios/motherboard see drive? what is the model# of the hp?

yes the bios does find it, hpa335w 2.5gig,w/80gig sv0802n hd,512mb ram.

i should add this all started when i tried to install micrsoft longhorn an the install failed.so when i went to re-install xp i couldnt.

get the utility software from samsung to low level format your hd so that you can put on xp than. once low level format is done, will have to partition & format the drive before xp can go on
