WinMX problems with ADSL

Hi. I am a long time user of WinMX, while I had a 56k connection. Now that I've moved to 1500 ADSL, WinMX rarely connects, and when it does, those who get in upload queue are never connected, and I never make any downloads. Searching for files is for the most part fruitless.

These are the things I have done. Note, that I run WinMX under Linux (using wine), although I get EXACTLY the same problem under Windows.

Changed TCP & UDP ports (and configured my firewall appropriately)
Changed versions (from beta version, down to 3.31)
Tried both primary and secondray connections

I've fiddled around with bandwidth throttle. There are several other settings there which I don't understand. Could someone get me out of this rut?

I am using an Dynaling ADSL router and a basic LAN card. Is there something I have to set up in my router?

Update:

Now winmx connects to the net after I set up port forwarding (correctly - duhh to me). Now it will queue downloads, but file transfers time out for downloading and uploading.

Help please?
