Hey folks, recently when i booted up the comp started screaming staright away gussed a fan was blocked or jammed.Killed power and and booted again with case door off, i turned out to be the motherboard fan.
After pushing the little bugger around abit iv managed to get it spinning again must have been scrapping against the side of the heatsink.Which brings me to my question anyone know how i can make sure the mobo fan is correctly seated? It seemed to be loose and i could move it with little force (one finger). Obviously there are no clamps like the processor fan so im a bit stuck.Never actually had to touch the mobo fan before.

http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=A8N-SLI%20Deluxe&langs=01#

That the board click on picture for bigger pic, its difficult to see but the fan is mounted on to springs at each conner and doesnt seem possible to detach it.Also any idea why it could be dislodged in the first place?Havent been inside the case for a good couple weeks.
Cheers for any suggestions

duno what hapened to the link ddp, speaking to a mate of mine today told me mobo fan can be reomoved but need to get into the back of the motherbaord (which requires me taking everything out and id rather not). He also suggested might be able to run without the chipset fan (take power off it) as i'd still have the heatsink on there.what you reckon? Ever tried it?

This is becomming a running comentry : )
The fan started spinning at over 9000rpm - no wonder it was starting to fail, duno what the fault was maybe something to do with the temp sensor? Anyways i decided to hook it up to my fan controller and set speed manually, iv dropped it down to 4500 - 5000 rpm and it seems to have done the trick.Seems to be stable and sounds healthy again and i once more have my quiet machine.

might be a voltage problem as in to much volts to cause fan to go double speed. in connector close to cpu fan or you have a spare 3 wire fan see if does same thing or normal speed
