I recently started using a Liteon 1633 burner and the movies can't be read in most of the players I have tried. I have updated to the newest firmware and have changed to DVD-ROM settings. I'm using ritek DVD+r 4x discs as always. Discs made with my other burners work fine. I'm running XP Pro SP2, using DVD shrink and anydvd (latest versions), burning with Nero or DVD decrypter. All my computers are set up the same way and using the same batch of DVDs. Any ideas why the Liteon discs won't play and the others are OK?

Well not sure what programs you are running, but my recent research has revealed that having SP2 installed can cause some conflicts with DVD burning programs. Recently, using Nero, Decrypter, Shrink all burns started off by working correctly. However, in less than one month pc started producing a mass number of coasters. Last night i reinstalled my OS, which is XP, but did not install SP2. Also set disk burning parameters to 4300 MB instead of the 4464 which is the default. This prevents the media from burning so close to the edge of the disk and helps in minimizing the number of coasters produced. After doing these things, I have had 0 coasters made. And I have been testing this on the Memorsux -R disks, with no problems. Everything is working appropriately right now. Don't know if that remotely helps any.

jpbsarris,

Something worth trying is resetting the eeprom. Here is a link to the eeprom utility. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=83441 Make sure you save the current eeprom configuration somewhere you can find it just in case. Be sure to read the instructions (I think they come bundled with the utility). I had similar problem with verbatum dlp dvd+r's. Now I'm getting some of the best burns I've ever had with my litey. Very low PI and PIF errors on kprobe scans.
