Hi,
I searched for this in most of the forums but I could not find an answer anywhere. Anyway, here is my requirement.
I have got a DVD of 9 GB which has got 4 movies. I have blank DVD+Rs of 4.7 GB size. I would like to split the 9 GB DVD movie into two with two movies in each. I was able to able to do this using the reauthor option in DVD shrink, but the menu functionality is not working.
Can some one help me is there a way to split a 9 GB DVD into two DVDs of two movies, but to keep the menu options also. I just need the basic functionality, i.e., just to select the movie.
Thanks,
Balaji.

CloneDVD2 will do it. Make sure you get the Elby or Slysoft one. There is another one out there made by a different company and from what I hear it's complete garbage. I think it's called CloneDVD3.

there's a free trial, so if you just want to do it once, that should be OK.

Two options. You can accomplish this by using DVD Rebuilder pro or VOB Edit and Menu Edit together. Both methods work great for seasonal (episodes)discs such as the HBO series Deadwood ...
Actually I've also split a large dvd9 disc between two discs where as
disc one = Edited menu, half the main movie + extras
disc two = Edited menu, 2nt half of movie + extras
Edited menu meaning that I disabled the menu buttons which no longer link to any program on that disc (i.e. Origional disc has twenty chapters. The origional dvd9 discs was split as backup disc #1 had chapter 1 to 10 and backup disc #2 contained chapters 11 to 20. On disc 1 I would disable the menu buttons for chapters 11 to 20 since they longer reside on disc one.
VOB Edit and VOB Blanker combined are pretty straight forward programs and will accomplish what you want. There are guides on how to use these programs. Check them out.

As much as I love this forum I wish there would be an option to edit my post.

Hi,
Thanks for the options. But I need the basic menu functionality of selecting the movie since my DVD-9 has 4 movies in it and I am trying to split two movies into two DVD-5 discs.
If I just split the movies into to DVD-5, I don't get the menu functionality. To get into the second movie, I need to forward thru the first movie all the way till the end.
Thanks,
Balaji.

I believe I know what you are trying to accomplish. I've done it many times.
1. Rip the entire dvd9 disc to the hard drive then load the movie into VOB edit.
2. keep the main menu plus the movies you wish to keep by blanking out the the movies you wish not to keep)
3.Save the project
4.Open Menu edit and locate the saved project
5.Now disable the selected menu buttons for the movies that are not on the disc.
Now you have a functional menu for just the movies on the one dvd5
Now just repeat the same procedure for the other movie(s).
As always when working with unfamiliar software it might take a some time to learn and figure out. Pretty simple once you do it a few times. Hope this helped.

As squizzle stated above use the trial version of CloneDVD2, it will let you preserve the functional menus on both disks, and it is very easy to use.
Here is a guide that will show you the process

VobBlanker or Nero Recode can be substituted for VOB Edit in Pony321's protocol and will produce very similar results.

DvdReMake has all the functionality of MenuEdit and much more. There is absolutely no constrains on how you can split your disk with DvdReMake. Actually here is the quote from the DvdReMake site (http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremake)
Quote: No more splitting disks - have what you like on your disk (movie or extra, or even part of this and part of that) with the original menu by simply removing what you don't want to see on the disk;

In an earlier post I mentioned DVD Rebuilder Pro. My mistake as I meant to type DVD Remake Pro. A person can dig really deep into the dvd structure with this program.

Just like was said: You don't split with DvdReMake - but rather simply remove what you don't want to see on the disk.
Say you want to have half of the movie on one disk and half on another keeping menus and extras on both. Just select selast half of the blocks and hide them - you've got disk 1, export it and burn. Hide first half of the movie - you've got disk 2. Of course you can do some menu modifications to hide buttons/menus related to hidden material.
Same way if you want to keep movie+menus on one disk and extras (+menus) on another. Hide extras - you've got disk 1, hide movie - you've got disk 2.
