Hi, all. Longtime reader, first time poster. :)
I have a movie image file (.nrg) weighing in at 4,483MB - which means it's a tad too big to be burned onto a DVD5 (4,482MB) disk.
Is there a way to edit the image file to remove that 1MB (by way of possibly removing extra subtitle languages) in order for it to fit onto my blank DVD?
The media I'm using is Maxell's DVD+R.
Thanks in advance.

try DVD Shrink. I'm not sure if it does .nrg files but I think it does. If you have any Nero products that compress that should work too, as .nrg is a Nero image file.

Thanks for the speedy reply.
I tried DVD Shrink and upon opening the file, I recieved an error message stating that the program was unable to find and open the movie's VIDEO_TS.IFO file.
I'm able to open it in IsoBuster though and view the image file's directory tree, but I'm not sure what my next step should be.
Any ideas?

Have you tried overburning with Nero?

If you have a virtual drive like from Alcohol or Nero, you can mount the image made in isobuster and then back it up using shrink as though you were doing it directly from a dvd.

I'm currently overburning it with Nero as I type this. I'll let you know how it turns out. If that fails, then I'll try mounting the image onto either Alcohol's or Nero virtual drive and then backing it up on DVD Shrink. I'll try it with Alcohol first since I don't have Nero's VD enabled.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Well, it seems overburning worked. After the burn was done, Nero said that the burn failed, but when I played it on my set-top DVD player, it seems to play fine. I gave it a quick browse through the menus, options, scene selection and, of course, playback. All seemed kosher. I'll give it a thorough inspection tomorrow, though. and let you know how it went.
Thanks to everyone who chimed in wit suggestions. I'm in such a great mood now that I'm gonna give my girlfriend that big, fat ol' massage she's been nagging me about for days. LOL.

I think to open this up in Shrink you have to click File, then Open Image File like an ISO.

I had done exactly that, squizzle, but that error kept popping up. I don't know what the hell was wrong with the image for it to give that error. Ah, well. :)

Are you talking about the Cannot find VideoTs.IFO error? If you click File, then Open Disc Image (not open file) it won't look for an IFO file. It will look for an ISO, MDS, NRG, or IMG file.

That's what I had done but the same error always appeared. I think this image was created in some unorthodox way because I had found out that extra custom subtitles were added to the video file.
By the way, the disc I overburned seems A-OK after watching most of the video today. :)
Thanks again for all the help.

I suppose that could be your problem.
