Ok this is how it goes: Ive used Fraps to record NES footage at 60fps in the standard 352 resolution. Anyone who has used fraps knows that the file sizes are HUGE because it doesnt have time to encode it at the same time its recording. I want to compress this 10GB "movie" (with sound) as much as possible while retaining good video quality using virtualdub, keep in mind i have 5 more games to record, all about 45-60 min each, so here are my issues:

1. Ive used MPEG4 fast and low motion and Xvid, all with poor results, What type of compression should i use for the best output?
2.Is there a MPEG-2 (DVD) codec i can use in virtualdub?
2.Needs to go on a 4.7GB DVD.
3.Am I using the correct program, or is there a better one for this?

60fps is a bit high which may be causing larger file sizes. PAL=25fps,NTSC=29.97. Not sure where your from but if your in the states you go with NTSC. I'm not sure if you will ever get good results with compresing fraps AVI. Mpeg 2 should give you your best output dvd quality keep in mind the quality of the compressed file will depend on the quality of original file. Mpeg 1(VCD) also looks pretty good much smaller file size than mpeg2. With mpeg 1 compression you can make VCD. Mpeg 2 you can make DVD. Yes if you google mpeg2 codec you'll find a download. Im familure with Sonic MyDVD which can easily take mpeg1 or2 and create VCD or DVD. For converting files I would check out this web site. http://www.videohelp.com/convert
