nero 6 ripping issue

I just purchased a new computer with nero 6 pre-installed on it and i started ripping all my cd's onto it. after two cd's worked without any problems the program started giving me a message saying 'the disc may be corrupt' on all my cd's after the first two. after that i went to nero's website and downloaded the update for it. now it is no longer giving me an error message but when i press the go button to begin ripping it shows the progress box for a split second then closes without ripping any songs. any help you guys could provide with be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
