hi
does BitComet affects the speed of the other users in a Lan with DSL connection... as i got complains from other users that their browsing and downloading speed is terrible as soon as i start using BitComet....so does it really takes all the connection band width..
what if i limit the upload speed rate does it relief the connection a little>>>thank you

Yes...I would suggest dividing it equally, and taking a little extra lol. I would also divi up the DL speed...But UL usually has just as much if not more effect on speed...

i have the same problem when using Bitcomet, I can't surf at all. I have Broad band, Time Warner Road Runner to be exact, and as soon as i begin downloading any files, the browsing stops. I have my modem connected to linksys router which i learned to portforward. I also use Zonealarm. the fastest speeds i ever got were about 55kb. Is there anything else I may do to help on this end?????
Anyone's help is greatly appreciated.

Make sure you are limiting your bandwidth used by bitcomet...Also, deprioritize it in task manager. (Ctrl Alt Del)

please explain what you mean by deprioritze. If you "de" prioritize doesn't this mean limiting the bandwidth? I want to increase bandwidth not limit....I appreciate it very much.

I do not believe deprioritising a process via Task Manager really does much for NETWORK USAGE.
To solve your problem i suggest that you find out your maximum upload speed. Divide that number in half. Set BitComet's uplaod speed to that number. DOwnload soemthing, give it around 30min to an hour to reach "max" speed, whilst it is downloading use the other computers on the LAN and see if the difference in speed is acceptable or not. From here, if it IS ACCEPTABLE, increase your upload speed in bitcomet a little bit (maybe 1/4 of your max upload or less), then test again. If it IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, decrease the upload speed in BitCOmet by a small increment.
Hope this helps

De-prioritize will have NO effect on bandwidth, unless your computer gets bogged down. I simply recommended this in case that was keeping your internet explorer from working properly. Less resources spent on BitComet = more for IE. Understand?

The need to deprioritise bitcomet for the purpose of performance seems somewhat overkill. I understand your logic, but in terms of real-world applications I do not believe this is an issue, especially considering its bitcomet - as opposed to the more process-hungry Azureus.
Furthermore, its the OTHER USERS that are experiencing a drop in performance, not the computer with BitComet running on it. So deprioritizing bitcomet on the comptuer won't affect the resources for IE located on the other computers. As I said in my previous post, a solution would be to play around with the upload speed settings on BitComet. This , IMO will provide more tangible results than deprioritizing. Understand?
