Im trying to backup schindlers list but theres a bit of a problem. The first two hours of the film are on one dvd, the remaining hour is on the second dvd. If I burn them as they are using dvdshrink the compression on the first dvd is 67% but the second half doesnt need any compression at all as it is only 3gb. How do I get it so half of the film is on each dvdr (4.7gb)? ie the same compression for each disk? Thanks

Hi there,

One thing you can try is this:

Use DVDDecrypter (Read FILE MODE), and get both DVD on your HD.
Then with DVDShrink, use RECODE and try to fit both on 1 DVD5.
Compression might be alot.

You also might want to use 2 x DVD5.

Use DVDShrink for the 1st DVD (If it's a Dual Layer, more than 4.5 Gb)
Burn DVD #1 (Quality should be better, less compression)

Since DVD #2 is small 3 Gb, 1 layer only almost sure, use DVDDecrypter (Read ISO MODE).

ISO READ, ISO BURN voila !

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I wasnt clear enough in the first post. I guess i'm wondering whether you can join them together then cut em into two equal halves. Instead of 2 hours and 1 hour youd have two 1.5 hour films. Each would then fit on a dvd5 with 82 or something compression. Probably wont be worth the hassle, just wondering :)
Cheers

Yes you can, the way i do it is use shrink to rip the first dvd to the hard drive then the second then join them together and use shrink again to create and iso of both parts of the movie then burn with decrypter. works for me anyway

Beer, the cause of and soloution to all lifes problems,I just cant get enough of that wonderful DUFF
