lg 4160b problem

in december of 2004 i purchased a lg 4160b 16x burner. until yesterday it worked fine with all dvd and cd media. now when i insert any type of dvd or cd, either empty or with any type of information on it, as soon as the burner starts reading the media the computer reboots. i have the latest firmware installed. has anyone ever experienced this type of problem and if so can you please let me know if there is any kind of solution, because it's driving me crazy. thank you
