DVD Burning read errors

I've been burning DVDs (movie and PS2 game backups) with no problems for over a year now and lately am having a nightmare as all the disks I burn have tons of read errors. Watching DVDs, they tend to get about halfway through and then start sticking really badly. As often as not it will be bad enough to make Windows Media Player/Power DVD crash.
I have two burning drives: a Pikaone IDE 1008 and an Emprex 16x Double Layer writer (both with latest firmware), and use either Infiniti (which worked perfectly before) or Verbatim disks. I burn using Nero 6.6.0.13, Alcohol 120% and DVD Shrink 3.2. Alcohol and DVD Shrink say nothing's wrong with burning, while Nero has problems writing the lead out and always comes up with burn errors if I try to verify the burn process.
Can anyone help? I've tried everything I can think of, and it only takes a second to chuck this bastard computer out of the window!

Try burning at lower speeds and consider different media. If you have the money grab a good quality dvd burner that writes with very high accuracy with certified brand media. My recommendation, the BenQ DW1640 or the Plextor PX-716A. :)Try doing a backup with CloneDVD2, my recommended software for backing up dvd movies. PM me if you need more help :)
