An organization called clean flicks is able to remove objectable audio from movies. Is that something that I can do or does it require a whole bunch of software/hardware?

if its audio only you could use a audio ripper, delete the bleeps, then re-author, but it will be a pain to get it synched again

if its senes and audio, use the start stop function in DVD Shrink, set the start and finish to the scene and backup, then set the start and finish after the scene and backup, then re-author and join the 2 (or 3 or 4 or ....) movie files thats shrink output. It will join them for you
