yeah thanks for the reply it's good to know i'm not the only one.
yeah well i'm going to talk to my isp provider tommorow morning because it sucks having internet without not being able to download music or shows. i miss downloading so much so if they give me some crap then i'm just going to get another provider i dont know maybe comcast anything that will open my ports for downloading. i did use a proxy but it's slow and when i used i had it only for a lilttle while so that sucks. well i 'll post a message on here tommorow and tell you what you can do and what i'm going to do next.

simple solution is to change the ports the programs use, just make sure to open them in your firewall settings

I use ports 49161-49171 which I chose at random due to a site I DL from. It worked like a charm for me. I use Azureus and haven't had any problems. Don't forget to forward the ports in your router however.

i talked to my isp provider which is verizon. they said they block port 80,1433,1434, but they said they couldnt block them that i woild have to do that. so it's not them that i cant download anymore. limewire uses different ports so now i dont know what to do. i tried different ports but i dont know if i'm doing it right. when you say forword ports i did that i went to portforward . com and that's how i was using Azureus and i loved it i miss it so much but you dont have to forward ports on limewire i used my uncle's computer and put limewirepro and azures the day i download azures on his computer i downloaded the movie star wars it took 2 hours! that's fast and he doesnt even use spyware or none of that stuff and my computer is faster than his too.

try changing your ports to a high number like 53000 or something. thats what some of the P2P/Torrent guides here at aD advise.. it works for me! (i use LimeWire pro & azuerus too...)

what about proxys do you use that? and what is the best site for that for my situation? and why does this thing happend i always use lime wire and download alot i mean alot and now i just cant use any of them and my isp says they dont have anything to do with it since limewire does not use those ports that thhey do block. very frustrating...

Yes, thats what i mean. sorry i took a while to reply, ive been a bit busy.

what firewall/s do you have? i have Norton. when you first install & use limewire & azuerus, they will try to connect to the internet. your firewall should pop up with a warning window. Norton firewall gives a drop down box with 'Block', 'Permit' & 'Manually configure internet access'. choose manually configure, then go through the options to give them full, unrestricted access to the 'net. sorry i cant explain in more detail with pictures & stuff, im not brilliant with computers. i think ive just been lucky so far! LOL :)

PS, if youre running windows XP, turn off XP's internal firewall, its not very good anyway. youre better of using something like Norton Internet Security.

ok Devlin, come back to this thread when youve changed your ISP & let us know how you get on with your downloads. this is the first ive heard of anyone having grief with LimeWire, i am interested to know what happens when you switch provider.

oh & you are not stupid, my friend. you are just learning, we all are...

Just think about it this way.. If you sort this problem out, you aint new to configuring filesharing ports anymore & next time you read a thread where someone is having the same problems, you can help THEM. thats the truth, dude!

Good Luck!
