I have a corrupted file on my hard drive which i cannot modify/delete/rename/open. This one corrupted file messes up the whole program it is in. Everytime I do something to the file my computer gets really slow and makes some chugging noises. The error it gives me is "Data error - Cyclic Redundancy Check". I did research on this and it seems to mainly be a problem with CDs DVDs and Floppys but this is already on my hard drive.. anyone had such a problem before and can help me? Thank you very much!

Check to see if you have a virus on the computer or spyware. I don't know if that would make a difference, but if not uninstall the program that that file screws up, try to delete the file then, and once u dump it, reinstall the program.

What kind of file is it?

I checked for viruses and all that.. none. Its a gaming file for counter-strike. I cant play the game because of this corrupted file. It is impossible to delete or i wouldnt have this problem! :(. I think the only possibility is to restore the file.. which is supposably possible but I cant find any information anywhere on how to do that.
