Hi.
I just updated my winmx to the latest version. Now before it connected fine (no idea what version, but quite a recent one) and my downloads werent super fast, but were ok. Everything worked.

Now it is CONSTANTLY trying to find network connections, and wont search or download.

I have heard the older versions of winmx have this problem but never the modern ones.

Oh, i forgot. I used to use a primary connection, but now it wont let me even try to connect on this as it says i 'do not have a TCP or UDP port for incoming connections/packages' is this even possible??? And the online help plain just doesnt load up. GAH.

I would say perhaps it was my computer (i have zonealarm, yet have enabled winmx for full access) but since the previous version worked, im confused. Can anyone suggest anything? (de-updating perhaps? Can you do that?) Thanks

I have a feeling it's Zonealarm. Or have you had your internet connection changed?
And yes, you can downgrade it.

Nope, while the internet connection has been behaving really annoyingly (wont connect to hardly any login things, warez, hotmail etc) it hasnt been changed and winmx did work before.
Zonealarm hasnt been altered since either.

Could you suggest a way to get zonealarm to accept it, or perhaps to downgrade winmx? Thanks, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks again

Have never really been able to use bittorents (their never able to find a peer or something, and i havent a clue if im doing something wrong or not. Confusing.) otherwise i would, since so many people reccommend them.
As it is, im stuck with winmx

Thanks a lot. How would i go about getting limewire?
Is it a similar kind of thing, or a bittorent? Is it as safe? Are there as many sources (not that winmx is overloaded with sources...)
Thanks anyway!!

to use it, it's more like Kazaa than WinMX. it's about as safe as any p2p proggy, and it's got decent or better speeds. try download.com to find it.

aIGHT listen you guys, to make this shit with winmx work, if you connect to wimx o.K, and not having any problems searching for music ect.but, when you go to dowload the song it wont dowload right?
this is either the router or the firewall from router or just a service pack firewall. Heres how I fixed mine( I was behind a service pack firewall by the way), go to Control panel then Windows Firewall then at the top click the Exceptions Tab Now, look for winmx if you found it that nice; leave it alone and leave it checked off.Click Add port Now your going to see 2 blank boxes and 2 radio check boxes asking for tcp or udp in blank box at the top write "winmx port" (just to let you know its that port for winmx) and then on bottom blank box wirte the winmx port (winmx default is 6699")6699. Now check off "TCP" press ok and try downloading a song in winmx. (reminder:make sure the firewall is "Off")
