I have a bunch of audio CD's that I would like to convert to quality MP3's so I can download them to my IPOD. What is a good (easy to use) software that will produce quality MP3 files from my CD's

did u read the guide properly. in step 1 it lnks to the cd-rw website hich u can donwload from the bottom of the page. the file is an rar type so u need win rar installed to extract the files from the archive.

Yes I did read it and I did download the zip file but when I unzip it there is no setup file just a exe file which opens the program, is that how it is used or is it installed????

Thanks again, so to clearify: when it says to put a file in the same folder as the installed program it means to put that file in the folder that it was unzipped to, right? thanks for all your help I hope to be making great quality back ups soon......

Yea, you need to install the Lame encoder and the Nero ASPI Layer DLL (only if you have Windows 2000 or XP as your operating system) in the same directory as EAC is installed. e.g. C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy
and the profiles should be downloaded into the Profiles folder in the same directory so you can load them when you start EAC. You only need the profile witch matches to what cd rom drive you plan to use. e.g. Adapter 1 ID: 0 will need "MP3byMyden[Adapter1 - ID0]"

Thats it. Then you will be creating the best sounding mp3's on this earth.

I loaded a CD and hit "alt G" and got the names of each track..cool! but then I clicked on the MP3 icon on the left side and EAC started to do it's thing, after it got done I realized that all the tracks were .wav not .mp3 what did I do wrong???

I don't think you changed any of the compression settings. Start EAC then press F11. A box should appear like this one

Do the exact same settings I have and type the following into the additional command line box: -h -v -b 256 --alt-preset extreme
And you shold be done. Reply if u still need help.

I must be doing something wrong because I still get the same thing. Once EAC is done the files are wav format not mp3.

are these settings correct??

when you are ripping from the CD does the windows command line appear.
if it doesnt then press F11 and click on the offset tab. tick the box which says "Use LAME command line encoder/decoder for decoding MP3 files". i hope this works as im running out of ideas on what to do.

FIGURED IT OUT !!!!!!

I was almost ready to give up on EAC but then started to look around on the menu and saw the configuration wizard, I ran it and then tried it one more time and BINGO!! all files were made into MP3's

Problem solved, thanks for all your help
