Hey I'm stuck in the USA and unfortunately I can't get my one of my favorite shows here in NTSC, it's only available in UK in pal, well there are 5 episodes here in ntsc but like 26 in UK. Great mystery show called Midsommer Murders if anyone lives in UK check it out. My question is I can order about 6 or 8 ep. on DVD from Amazon UK pretty cheap to only like 15 quid thats cheaper than the 5 ntsc VHS I can get here. Anyway if I order them on DVD can I rip to my H/D then run it through DVD2AVI demux it then run the .m2v through an mpeg2 encoder setting the output to ntsc 720x480@29.97fps to make a DVD? If so whats the best encoder to do this with minimal compression artifacts and what not from going from 25fps to 30fps? Question 2: My uncle lives in the UK is it possible say to get him to buy my a VCR then I can use a power adaptor to make it work on our voltage, then plug it into my Dazzle Capture thingy and set its options to DVD Quality PAL mpeg2. Then take that mpeg2 and convert it to ntsc in DVD Resolution and all . Then I can burn it make my owne DVD chapters and all in the wonderfull DVD Movie Factory, or spruce if I ever get the audio problems sorted out or someone answers my other post about spruce and their idea works. Anyway, any help or advice, and instuctions and I would be forever in your debt.
Thanks,
Sean

Slightly off topic. I too have a penchant for a set of DVDs only available as region 2, and I am stuck in the USA. My solution, because I would not be posting if I hadn't solved the problem, I simply bought a modchip for my DVD player, this is where I got very lucky, the very inexpensive player not only had a cheap modchip available to it, but was capable of displaying PAL on NTSC and vice versa. My thought to you: you are looking at copying and reencoding, hoping for minimal loss of quality, to play on your non-modified DVD player, perhaps you should look for the opposite approach and fix the DVD player. This solves any quality problems, and you will be able to view any other regions DVDs with no problem.
My DVD player: Apex AD-500W, $60 @ Walmart.
The modchip: from http:\\www.apexmodchip.com $16, so I have an all region PAL to NTSC NTSC to PAL DVD player for $76. Maybe even cheaper than any program that could reencode the DVDs with high quality.

Thanks for the info problem is only 6 maybe 8 are available on DVD and of those 2 or 3 are 2 or 3 of the 5 available here in ntsc. It just ain't worth 80bucks to be able to watch 3-5 movies. If all 26 where on DVD that'd be differant but they are on PAL VHS unfortunatly. I still thak you for you reply and info.
Thak you very much,
Sean
