I think that cdex cannot produce various filenames can it? I mean:
In a various artists cd there are different names for the artist of each song. The thing in cdex is that when it rips a cd like this it puts "Various Artists" in the artist tag of the mp3 and for example "Iced Earth / Dante's Inferno" in the title tag.

Is there a way of changing it so as to produce filenames like:
"01 - Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno"
"02 - Virgin Steele - Blood & Gasoline"
"03 - Bathory - Flash of the Silverhammer"

use something like Tag&Rename. It can access the freedB and has an option to check for various artists CDs, then properly names your filenames as well as ID tags

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:
