I was just wondering if I make a DVD backup and I would like to make another copy of that backup but I deleted the files from my computer. Can I just use Nero and click on "DVD-Copy" and put my first backup in (it will make an image of that back up) then it prompts me to insert blank media and go from there. If anyone has a better suggestion let me know.
I don't have another DVD drive (can't afford it now) is it possible to do it as I describe. The "DVD Copy" button on Nero, is there a difference with that and "DVD Movie" button.
I backed up a movie using dvd xcopy onto a dvd +rw so as not to waste a dvd +r. I tested it and it works fine. Now I want to copy it onto a dvd +r and I tried doing it with nero choosing the dvd xcopy option and it gives me the error message "Cannot copy this disk to a DVD media".
I have one dvd +rw drive so I am using the option of burning an image to HD and then burning onto blank media.
If anyone knows what is wrong please let me know. Thanks in advance.
I tried that with nero but my pc hung up at around 50% each time!!!!!
That was doing it on the fly.
However I found that nero would only read my backups at the speed I burned at ie 1x if I used my dvd rom to read, but would read at 2x if I used the rewriter to read but obviously could not copy on the fly.
People say around the forums exactly what ur asking and say 'yes.
Because of the above and also compatibility issues with nero I use dvd decrypter to backup my backups IN ISO MODE to create an image then burn in the same program this works for me well.
I have tried and tried with several applications to copy a backup on a dvd +rw to a dvd +r. I am using a Philips +rw burner an HP dvd +rw and a verbatim +r. Also I only have one dvd drive so I have to burn image to HD and then swith disks.
When I tried with Nero I got an error message when I inserted the dvd +rw with the backup on it saying "Cannot copy this disk to a DVD media".
I tried "disc copy" two times using Prassi Primo dvd and about 95% of the way through crreating the image onto hard it stopped and said displayed an error saying that the image was too big for the temp folder, however I have about 40 gigs of free space.
I tried dvd decrypter as suggested however, when I start the application I get an error saying "ASPI Initialization Failed" "Error:ASPI manager was not found on system". I went ahead and clicked ok and the application still ran. 5 Files (for 3.4 gigs and the dvd backup is 4.378 gigs) are automatically highlighted out of 14. I do not know where to go from here. Should I highlight them all and click decrypt? Will this work despite the error warning?
Sorry for the long message but I wanted to provide all the details.
Please help with the easiest possible way to transfer from dvd +rw to dvd +r.

Hi,
I think you'll find DVDXCopy encrypts when you create your DVD (with any burner)they do this to unsure only 'personal backups' are allowed ie. you cannot copy the backup, if you want a second disk you repeat the DVDXCopy operation.........
That error is usually a result of an "un-initiated" drive (I know there is a techincal term for it, but I cannot recall) Basically, put your DVD into the drive and play a few minutes of it using whatever software player you use.
Then try DVD Decrypter in .ISO mode and read an image to your hard drive. Then, burn that .ISO back to another DVD-R.
