I have used many different software for backing up my dvds but i have come across a problem. When the dvd is burned using different software I get the same thing happen. The dvd stinks. It skips and the audio and video dont match up and it happens all the time now. I have been using Dvdfab dvdshrink and others but it doesnt make a difference. I have a liteon 16x duel layer burner with the firmware updated and burn at 4x no matter what.
Does anyone know what software either conflicts with these software or if there is some other reasone why this would be happening?

This problem can still be related to media quality. The brands you mentioned are not all made be one manufacturer. Another reason can be the speed you burn at. Can you post the media codes for the discs that are giving you trouble? Knowing which media codes to stay away from might help you in deciding which brand works best for you. Also, let us know what speed you burn at.

sounds like a media problem here to me as well~

as wolfniggr stated, just because you buy popular store brand name media, does NOT mean you get good media.

there are MANY manufacturers that are not good that make discs for those particular brands, for example :

HP DVD-R 4.7GB CMC MAG. AE1 8x
HP DVD+R 4.7GB CMC MAG.E01 8x

TDK DVD+R 4.7GB CMC MAG.E01 8x

you VERY well could have gotten one of these HORRIBLE CMC MAG discs as your media code~

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

Have you ever been able to successfully burn and play a DVD? What format are you using - or + R? What kind of standalone DVD player do you have?

I agree with the others, good chance of being media related. HP and TDK I would be leary of especially if +r. Sony is usally considered good. Some media codes would help with diagnosis. Do the backups play ok on the litey that burned them? If media proves to be good quality, maybe an eeprom reset is in order.

I am burning at 4x allways and I dont know how to tell the media code. But this problem is just with me. My friend and I buy blanks in bulk together and split them. He is using the same software and blanks and not getting any problems. That is why I am thinking it is a software conflict. Ya know how windvd conflicts with dvdxcopy. Well I am using dvdfab express and wanted to know if there was and known conflictions.

+R media allways
The movies play bad on all my recent stand alone players and my friends. They even play bad on the pc. I shut down all known programs running like antivirus firewall and even the internet itself. So I am lost on what it could be at this point. I have only like 50 burns with this burner and the first 35 came out great. I try software for different things install and uninstall ya know.

Give us your media codes before we go there to rule media out.

If you are using DVDFab Express are you sure you are burning at 4x, this program has a tendency to reset its burning speed, and it will overcompress. Usually, playback problems such as yours are 99% of the time media related either bad media or too fast of a burn. You need to be more specific on the media codes.

We can't help if you don't provide the info that we are asking. Ok you feel secure about your media, what is the harm of giving us the media codes for your media? The most common cause of freezing, pixelation and sometimes audio, vidio sync is poor quality media. We already know for a fact that the media you are useing is sometimes made by CMC Magnetics (worst media manufacturer period) especially the +r format. Lets rule out media first then move on. Eeprom reset won't help if crap media is being used. http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

Well, the first question I would ask is do the files play ok on the PC, before you actually burn them?

Check you HD is in a nice tidy condition - defrag, and DMA enabled?
Check your burner is on a seperate IDE to that of your source HD?
How much memory have you installed, and how much is available at the time of the burn?
Is your burner upto date regrading latest firmware?
Have you tried other burning software?
Have you tried burning at a lower speed, 2x for example?
Is your burner fully supported by the software you are using, check at their website for listings and FAQ's......
Provide us with information on your PC specs and burning logs etc?

Usually bad sync, is due to the encoding of the MPG streams (or very old players), and a check of this is to play the files before burning, this will eliminate the encoding process of your software.

Just a small test I always recommend, try a dvd5 (single layer) backup with Dvd decrypter using ISO read, then ISO write 1:1, no stripping or re-authoring and see how it turns out.

Go here for a simple dvd5 1:1 guide with dvd decrypter
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/small_dvd_2_dvdr_page_2.cfm

...............PIO is no go, DMA all the way...............
Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down
