Hello, i am new at this stuff i am wanting to know what dvd burner and software and mod chip i need to play ps2 back ups? and where is the cheapest most reliable place to get these things?

You need a ps2 mod, like swap magic or a chip. You can download DVD Decrypter a free burning programme. You need a decent dvd writer and good media.

According to my understanding, "DVD Decrypter" is free. It's ironic how you heard or got the illigal stuff from because DVD Decrypter has been a "free program" to use and still "free" to download.

when i tryed to download it from i cant remember if it was afterdawn.com or DVD Decrypter.com it asked if i lived in the Us and i clicked yes and it redirected me to a forum and said its illegal software in the US.

get DVD Decrypter while you can,only sites like this will have it,as they are based outside of copyright laws
dvd decrypter is sadly no more.

Hursty, guess this is the perfect time to see how CloneDVD2 works for games as i have not tried it yet.
But for movies it is top notch.
You were correct again, Nero sucks fish
the quality with CloneDVD2 was 10X better even with 54% compression ration fitting the whole movie on the disc with extras. No blips or distortion like Nero.
I agree DVD Decrypter is great for games
DVD Burner of course (Sony DRU-720A)
Swap Magic & Slidecard or Slimtool depending on which version PS2 it is.
Or a DMS4 Pro mod chip, or a Matrix Infinity Mod Chip
or just buy a premodded system with the mod chip and laser fix.

Hi all
Remember that you should also invest in a DVD lens cleaner!!
I was having problems playing backed up games.
Cleaned my lens and all my back up (New and old) work like a charm
Star wars reveng of the sith, the punisher etc all working perfectly

Messiah 2's are superb
A friend told me to clean my lend ages ago and i thought i wouldn't need to since i've always used good media but all lenses eventually get dirty and DVD lense cleaners only cost a few pounds

Search Before posting how hard is it do do.
Look up a guide to backup ps2 games and it will tell you what you need.
