For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

I also had the same question. But all the guide on the site tells u is to download mIRC and then just get into the channel and then download. But i dont think that it is that simple .. I have tried to download a couple of movies using this but I have never ever been able to complete it. finally i have got to the conclusion that IRC is shit engine .......

beleive what you want, but don't call it shit just because you can't get it to work. its not that hard. use ircspy or packetnews to search for what you want to download. click the little number next to it. mIRC pops up, and click the button to connect to that server. once the channel window pops up, hit control & v to paste the download info into the type window. hit enter, and you're done. you might get put in que and have to wait

I don't think you can create channels like that, I've never heard of that. You must connect to a server, of which there are a few dozen of. Once you're connected to a specific server, then you connect to one of its numerous channels. once in there you can type the correct info to XDCC (download). But you don't have to connect to the server/channel manually. mIRC should do it automatically. When you click on a packet number in the search engine, it brings up mIRC, correct? click connect to a new server. the server window will pop up, and once its connected the channel window will pop up. then in the typing area at the bottom hit paste and some text should show up. hit enter, and you should start downloading or get a message saying your in que. Its also possible you don't have mIRC configured properly yet, there are a few things to do to set it up for XDCC. like I said, go to ww.ircspy.com and click on guides. the site is back up and they have step by step instructions for everything

go to www.ircspy.com or packetnews.com they are search engines for files on IRC. look at the "guides" section of ircspy...it tells you how to DL files once you search for them

follow this step by step guide:
http://ircspy.com/guides.asp?mode=display&id=1135

it shows you everything from were to DL mIRC, how to configure it properly to accept XDCC (file transfers) and how to use the search engines and how to click on packets and connect to servers. once you get the hang of it its really not that tough. once mIRC is setup, just click on the packet number next to the file in the search engine, then mIRC will connect to the server and channel, then hit ctrl + V to paste the packet number info in the box, hit enter, then it downloads.

How do you hide your IP address from people that use /whois command?
Also, on the ad buddies some people have a + in front of there names, what does this mean? and @ means moderator, right? thanks

to truelly hide your IP address, you need a BNC (bouncer) and/or a proxy.. Best option is to login to your BNC via a proxy then connect to the IRC network. the + in front of ppl's nicks on an IRC channel mean their voiced (allows users to speak in channel if the channel is moderated) as for the @ before a user's nick, thats usually channel operators or ChanOps. Getting Ops in a channel isnt easy, channels generally just give that position away cause it grants user ability to kick ppl from channel for x amount of time, ban users, mess with the channel modes (moderated, private,Invite, Undo other Ops bans)

See : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRC for more detials

MAXX420 - there are channels that offer users that are running XDCC/Fservers/ftps special access to private servers. you'll usually see a message in the channel saying something like - have an XDCC/Fserve? Msg such and such OP/Op for details to get access to blehbleh server/distro. Running your own fserve/xdcc requires basic knowledge of IRC as well as some security. Id advise against it till you get a better grip on howto use IRC
