Is this like a brain teasing puzzle where we have to fill in the missing words to make sense of your post?

A DVD-R can only hold 4.37GB of data. The rest is lost in overhead.

Why Nero runs up to 4.5GB is a mystery to me, but if you fill it to that limit you may have problems

Is overburning completely impossible?
I once had to substract 30 seconds of music at the end, because I slightly exceeded the limit (4 MB !!!)

The difference between the 4.7 GB advertised and the 4.37 GB actual space on a DVD has nothing to do with overhead. It's caused by what I like to call new computer math.

4.7 GB actually refers to 4.7 Billion Bytes. The problem is that 1 GB is actually 1,073,741,824 Bytes (KB=1024, MB=1024*1024, GB=1024*1024*1024). If you do the math that means that a DVD actually holds a little more than 4.37 GB.

I stand corrected. I wasn't sure when I wrote it to be honest.

I understand malum. Most people aren't aware of this particular marketing trick. Either way 4500 MB doesn't make any sense to me either, but I use DVD Decryptor to burn my movies so I'm not that familiar with using Nero (except for CD's).
