Joe here;

I have had a copy of DVD XCOPY for some time now and am using a Sony DRU500 Dual Layer burner. I have been making backups of origianl DVD movies and have come across some that can not be compressed enough to copy. Ex. Farhenhiet 911, Finding Nemo. Once it is ripped to my HD, I put in my blank DVD and it comes up with a "file size to big & can not be burned to DVD-R or RW disk.

1. Is this issue coming up because the original movie is on a DL DVD?
1. If I use a DL DVD to burn on to will this not be an issue?
2. Is their an all in one (ripper, compressor & decrypter) DVD copier better then DVD XCOPY?
3. How much more are DL Disks and are they readly available?

Appreicate all input.

Thanks

GIJOE

1a Nope... sounds like a DVD X COPY limitation.. almost all movies these dyas are DL
1b a DL disk would work, yes...
2 i have never used X COPY, try DVD Shrink OR DVD Decrypter and DVD rebuilder
3 they are available and about 10x normal disk prices, which is why i never use them

try downloading DVD Shrink from the software section, there are loads of guides for it. make sure you use deep analysis and the extra quality (i use smooth) on highly compressed movies. (i use dvd rebuilder on anything less than 75% as it is better quality than anythying else)

As babelfish states DVDXcopy has its limitations and is old technology, lack of updates, although it will rip older movies. Finding Nemo is a Disney movie which usually contains multiples titles and is very hard for XCopy to handle, have you tried movie only this usually works. There are better programs available the two stated DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink are free and will do the job. You can download them here

If you are willing to pay for programs then I recommend AnyDVD and CloneDVD they are excellent programs and easy to use you can do a 21 free trial of the programs. They are available at

http://www.slysoft.com

AnyDVD works in the background to break the encryption and CloneDVD encodes and burns. If you like the ease of Xcopy and want a more modern version the try DVDFabPlatinum whic also has a free trial, available at

Thanks for all your quick responses.

Question...if I was to only rip the movie, how do you determine what tracks are just the movie and not all the other stuff?

I have a copy of DVD Decrypter, but have not had the time to install, learn & use yet. Is DVD Decrypter an all in one or do I have to use it, then use DVD Shrink then burn using Nero?

Any thoughts & or reviews on 1Click DVD Copy? It is an all in one app correct?

if you have Nero installed DVD Shrink can rip, compress and burn [using nero]. it also makes it really easy to see the main movie apart from extras etc

I have not used Xcopy in long time and usually used the Xpress because I did not want the hassle of as you say trying to figure out what was what. Yes you would have to rip with Decrypter first and then encode with Shrink and you can burn with Decrypter. However, some of the older movies can be done with Shrink alone. I have not used 1Click but am not sure if it has a ripper. I have tried the trial version of DVDFab which as I state is the same as XCopy and Xcopy express. Programs are pretty much personal preference, but there are enough that have trials, so give them a try and see what you like.
