In the past decryter had been fine but I must admit I rarely use it to rip movies to my hdd bu rather use it to burn images. Anyways I decided to back-up some movies and I getting all kinds of errors. Just to get this out of the way all the movie's Im backing up are back-up themsleves so they should have no copyprotection schemes. So I go to back-up King arthur and I get this error
I/O error
Devices [3:0:0]_NEC_DVD_RW ND-2500A 1.08 (D:)ATA
Scsi Status: 0x02
Interpretation Check Condition
CDB: 28 00 00 1E 20 80 00 00 01 00
Interpretation: Read (10)- Sector: 1974400
Sense Area: F0 00 03 00 IE 20 80 0A 00 00 00 00 11 00 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Unrecovered read error
WHat does this all mean and whats the cause of all my headaches. On a side note collateral (the back-up) was giving me problems at the 85percent mark then bam it worked.

More than likely since these are already backups the problem is errors in the disk, these more than likely do not cause playback problems but your PC drive is more sensitive to these errors. The media you used to do your original backups was probably not that good. You could try cleaning the disk, but do not know if this will help. There are disk rescue programs out there, but this is not something I am well versed in.

Your original is damaged.
You can select ignore read error, but if disc is badly damaged
you lose alot of the movie.
if possibly get another disc.

hi

if at first you put thse on to cheap media then cheap media degrades after a few months and you get things like this hapening!

could try changing brute force method and setting DD to aggresive rip and ignore read erors as a last resort

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

I think it my be the media as someone else said they play fine but dont rip fine. While I use Taiyo's now I use to use TDk and Mememorex CMC crap thats why I was making the back-ups. SO im in a bit of a bind as I sold the originals to make rent one month. Also another weird problem I decide to use shrink to see what results and tiwice it gave low virtual memory errors. I have allocated 1400 min and max for pagefile and never run into these kind of problems. Also I have a 512 MB of ram. The rest of my system is up to par too 2.4p4@3.0 and a 9600Pro flashed to 9600 XT bios.

Sounds like a media problem to me also.

Aswell, you may want to check your DMA settings aswell, because usually after 6 crc errors, windows reverts the drive to PIO Mode, and this mode slows everything up period.

Right click my Computer
Click Properties
Click Hardware
Click Device Manager
Click on IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
Then select either Primary or secondary (dependent on which it is) controller
Click advanced tab
You will see the PIO Mode there in the 'current transfer mode' if it has altered, would usually display DMAxxxxxxxxx.

If so, just uninstall the controller, reboot, it will reinstall itself and should be back in DMA..................

...............PIO is no go, DMA all the way...............

DMA is fine I'll try the suggestion with aggresive ripping. Damn this why I back-up the DVD because of all this talk of crappy CMC media.WTf why doesnt someone sue these people what if I had put home movies on these. This is like ad for car and u buy it then 3 months ltr it takes a crap. By the way does dvd rescue work well.
