I have been using Limewire for about six months and it's been fine, but for the last 2 days I have been unable to get more then 1-2KB/s I have 512 broadband. In the past it was around 15-25 depending on file.
I have stoped the DL and found then again but still the same speed.
I have been download 3 files for about 3 days on and off, they vary from 4 to 15 host at any given time, I have paused two files and only had one going still the same.
Any ideas, I read something about changing the por number to a higher number what do you think?
I'm seeing a lot of complaints about the download speeds on both LimeWire and WinMX. I'm one of them. I'm new to the process. My download speeds on WinMX averages .50 and ranges from 0 to 2 on LimeWire. I'm running a decent system, XP Pro with SP2, 3.0 G Processor and a DSL connection. I'm not sure how to verify the speed of the DSL. I think I've got 2 firewalls, one in XP and the other on the Belkin Router. I've read the posts and have opened ports in both firewalls for both programs. Nothing seems to improve the status. People uploading from me in WinMX have the same .50 and 1 to 3 on LimeWire. I've run a virus scan and spyware scan and find nothing. I connect easily on both. Searches fine. Just the downloads seem to be a problem. Only once did I see a download at 18. It just gets so frustrating when it takes 1-2 weeks to download a file. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or not. Anyone out there sharp enough to give a total dummy step by step instructions on how to set things up properly? I'll take any help I can get.
