i was working on backing up these double layer discs and i seemingly came across a way to back them up onto a single layer disc much easier than the ways discussed on this forum. i used alcohol's image-making wizard and made an image of norrath, setting 4 gig blocks, and let it make an image. i then burnt the mdf file with dvd decrypter and played the game for a long time with one error: the first cut scene froze once, but i skipped over it the next time without problems. I then did the exact same thing with god of war and got the same results. the mdf file appears to be the same as an iso file. if anyone wants to try this and report back, i'd be glad to listen.

I haven't tried backing up champions of norrath, but as far as god of war, if you don't rebuild the game it will freeze about four hours into it.
