Shouldn't there be a rule....if you are using CMC Mag blanks. Your questions should be posted in the DVD-R for Newbies forum??? How come so many "advanced users" are asking I/O/ Power Cal/ and this disc won't burn questions here???? If you are using crap media you are not and advanced user!!! Pay the extra nickle or two and use TY's.

The advanced users section is the first for DVD+/-R and many are just too lazy to scroll down that one little bit. Or one of the other reasons is that their problem is sooooo important that it has to be an advanced question. So you end up with a bunch of Noobs posting in the advanced section.

i will have to completely agree w/ zippyd (hey that rhymes) :P
many users on here feel that their questions and problems are THE MOST IMPORTANT on here...they need to be addressed quickly, in full detail regardless of what anyone knows about their setup/procedures/software/hardware/etc. so they can go to bed happy at night~ :P

it comes with the territory, but, a rule like that akyllonen will NEVER be enforced as it is quite impossible to do~ :)

And from the other side, when I post an advanced question everybody think I'am a noob. (I realy hope, I'am not. :) ) Maybe another names would help: DVD-r technical help and guides and Advanced DVD-R discussion. I just think, if there is a "I'am a stupid noob!" button, you won't click there.

Well my view on it is:

Your rating is basically how new you are to the site and how much you have helped others via posts etc.

Now if you are PC savvy, you generally find that those people have the common sense to locate the appropriate and post their questions there, these people usually include as much detail/specs as they can provide in order to help those that read come up with suggestions and remedies.

However, you get the others (as mentioned before) who just want a quick response, and therefore expect the answers/suggestions to be given quicker in the advanced sections.
We know that the moderators do a very good job of policing the forums and move threads to the appropriate forum when necessary.

There are rules regarding posting in the appropiate forum, but what are rules when people do not have the common sense to read/abide by them, and that is why we have our glorious moderators.

And what if you are familiar in using computer and writing DVDs but you are new on this site. I think, one forum shold be for those who need howto guides and help and the other for those who know what to do and need some technical data or discussion but don't need detailed info. And I say again, if you write somewhere the newbie or noob questions title, nobody will click there. So if you don't know, how to use something or what to use for something or you have got an unknown error mesage use the second forum.

Hmmmm, well that is not how I approach topics at all.
I am more concerned in the title of thread and to see if I can help out irrespective of their status or where it is.....

It is upto the moderators to ensure the smooth running of the site, and also appropriate forums.

Your idea is ok, but what if it is implemented, will you expect the mods to ban people for it, you cannot force people to not be lazy, only decide which rules (should they be broken) be more damaging to the site ie Piracy and Abrusive intentions etc.

This is a public forum and what maybe considered relatively simple to you, maywell be in fact be too advanced for others and vice versa.

When I start a thread, I consider which forum is appropriate and post it.

Actually there are many people who do have good success with those discs, contrary to belief, I myself have but choose to use alternatives.
So all CMC are not necessarily bad (granted, they are well known for poor quality), but what is crap for you may not be crap for others and may indeed be something other than the 'media'...............

Like we found out here:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/179066

Would you consider this an advanced thread based on the initial information given to us by ecko123? as it all pointed to a possible media problem, and the resulting problem surprised the shit out of all of us, however if the information was provided at the start then we more than likely would have found the problem earlier.

Now that thread was started by a newbie, and was actually more of an advanced situation (it turned out)...................

With that, I'm done here...................have fun.............

I no longer consider myself a "newbie" when it comes to burning, but if my QUESTION is relatively easy to solve, I'll post it in the Newbie section. I don't believe that the forum should be segregated by users IDs (i.e. Newbie, Member, Addict, etc) but by difficulty of solving the issue at hand.

As for the CMC-Mags. I'm amazed that ANYONE would stand up for them. I wonder how many posts alone they create per day, week, month. The point I was trying to make was when reading the headers in ADVANCED, I was surprised by how many so called "Advanced Users" would touch this garbage. It only creates headaches in the present...or in the future...when you'll have to re-backup all the ones that fail down the road. Just doesn't seem advanced to me!

Why not use the CMC for data storage rather than video, they work very well for that purpose........................
