I used decrypter everytime and yes it does take forever but I find that I don't get any coasters. I have only burned 6 dvds and was wondering if you need to use this everytime and if not how do you know when to use it. The other program I use is Shrink so if I dont use decrypter do I only use shrink? Also is their a list of movies that are difficult to burn and how people did it?

you can try first to rip with shrink but any thing really new your probably going to have troubles with try it out though just use the open disc button instead of open file like you would after using dvdd
I believe you decrypt and compress all at once not sure I've never had dvdd take over 13 minutes I guess I'm just patient

13 minutes for 8 gb is very fast. Soem people just want everythign fast, so they burn and rip fast, and in the process create errors. My friend burns cds at 40x for god sakes.

1. Nero recode 2 + AnyDVD = a charm
2. DVD Decrypter = a living legend
3. shrink + AnyDVD = a great alliance..
these are the combos I use.
If number one doesnt work, which is rare
number 2 or three never fails..
its almost like a guarantee..ONE of them will work.

the best combo by far is clonedvd2/anydvd
for quality and speed, its second to none.
dvd shrink is ok,but its outdated,if it wasnt free,it wouldnt be so popular, unlike dvd decyrpter, which is excellent for ripping/burning,but that will soon become obselete for ripping.:(
but you just cannot beat the combo i mentioned, you can even burn ps2 games on it god damn it,not to mention video ts folders
:)

I still consider myself a newb in all this and I went home and took Hursty's advice to heart...and you know something...he's right..and i was very impressed how fast any and CloneDVD work together.
Hats off my friend thanks..

The best encoder combo for quality is RB/CCE Basic and is second only to CCE SP (which costs $2000)(they both use the same encoding engine) and will blow the doors off clonedvd2 but is not nearly as fast. About 2 hours on average for a 7000-7500 mb video folder. Who cares about speed, rip your dvd's to your hdd (about 15 min per dvd) then set up batch processing and encode several video folders while you sleep or are at work.

I maybe a newbie here but I have been burning for years now..... starting off with the easy 321 studios DVDXCopy for backing up my DVDS........after many coasters and many hours I decided to buy a better computer and joined this forum, resently. After reading here and observing much, I agree with Mort. CCE is great for quality! And a great porgram that incorperates it is DVDRebuild.... read all about it here:

If you want high quaility first time burns and satisfaction this is a way to go! My hats off to one of the most informed forums around! And the one with the most impressive knowledge base of DVD burning and a group of great infromative people that tought me sooooooooo much! Thanks!
