Hey Guys,

My flat screen monitor recently broke so I had my uncle grab me an old Dell CRT monitor from the stroage room at his office. The one problem that I'm having is the picture is so dark. I tried adjusting with the buttons on the monitor and used adobe gama but had no luck. Everything is dark, Pictures, videos, windows. Is there any other ways I can adjust this? I never had these problems with my flat screen.

the monitor itself is the problem as the flyback transformer might be going or needs adjustment. see on backside of monitor if there is 1 or 2 rotary knobs

nope, no rotary knobs, just the menu buttons in front. If this helps: When I used adobe gama, it brightened up the windows great but videos and pictures are still really dark.

if you were to get inside the monitor casing then you can adjust the brightness & contrast but watchout as some things kick out 20,000 volts!!!

i could always do it unplugged though. If I were to get into the monitor, how would I go about adjusting?

even unplugged the monitor is still charged so be very careful or you'll get 1 hell of a zap!!!! to the right of the power & monitor cables is a blocky object about the size of a hardball softball. there will be 2 black pole knobs sticking out. monitor has to be connected to computer which both have to be on. use a slot screw driver to adjust 1 of the knobs to brighten the picture
