thx i removed the -p firmware
The drive made only clicking sounds

not sure if this will help but it worked for me ..... my problems were dvd burner just stopped working with Nero, just would'nt burn any more, dvd would play sometimes and sometimes not, in the device manger every thing said ok but the dvd recorder was useless,

try this link if your using xp, when it worked for me i opened up a bottle of 12 year old single malt ... thats how happy i was
