Sony double layer burner 16X, burning 8X Verbatium. At the end of the burn and durning the write out the burner will eject the disc and the program will be behind. It can take up to 30 seconds before the program will display DONE, (after eject). On playback, file will play fine for awhile then freeze from time to time. Then about 10 minutes before end of the movie it will freeze and then go to the main menue.
Anyone seen this problem before?

Thanks

Yes you should not exceed 4x when trying to burn DVD-VIDEO as buffer underun errors may occur, plus some standalone DVD'S have problems when reading dvd's burned at higher than 4x.

I have read alot about burning speed. I burn at 8x and have never had a problem with that before. I use DVD Cloner 2 and it does not give you an option to select speed. What would be the next guess as to the problem?

Thanks

I have never used cloner, but is there a setting where it burns a temp image to the HD, if so it maybe that in conjunction with a slow/fragmented HD.
The delay maybe that it is deleting the temp image afterwards........

If so I would disable that option
Burn at a lower speed
Check out/defrag the HD

Maybe off the mark, just my 2 cents.................

...............PIO is no go, DMA all the way...............
Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down

my 1st choice to get to a solution I will try using another software, you can download a 30 trial of Nero, there is an option where you can burn DVD video files, it lets you select speed and has a much better interface and options, Ive used other programs where you cannot choose burning speed it just burns at max (It burned like 3 of my DVD's at 16x!!) so try using Nero and tell us how you do, also as baabaa said defrag the drive so HD reading speeds will be faster...GL ;)

Are you multi-tasking while burning?? Do you have any programs running in the background (antivirus, etc.) while burning?? Have you checked for AD WARE or SPYWARE lately? Any of these may cause issues while burning that will show up as playback problems. Just guessing and giving you a few more things to check.
