I have just come to the first movie I have not been able to rip. The Jacket. I have AnyDVD and Intervideo DVD Copy. I have also tried DVD Shrink as well as DVD Decrypter. I have been ripping for quite a while now and have not had one I couldn't handle. Any takers on this one?

It gets about 25% and locks up. Doesn't matter what program I am using.

Try cleaning the disk or getting another original, you probably have a disk that is scratched, smudged or has an imperfection. This movie does not have any special protection on it, and DVDDecrypter or AnyDVD will handle it :~)

I'm having problems with it too. Mine's a brand new spotless disk, and when it gets to 99% Decrypter locks up. It says it at VTS_02_1.VOB when it freezes up. I end up having to do a hard restart of my computer. I was ready to break down and buy AnyDVD, until I read your post.

Make sure you're using the latest version (5.2.6.1) and also try DVD43, but make sure you have one or the other disabled. They fight each other.

Wow, weird! Just for the heck of it, I tried something that worked one other time on a hopeless disk. Don't ask me why it worked, but it did. I have the latest Liteon SOHD-16P9S dvd-rom and a Plextor PX-716A burner and this time I put the dvd in my Plextor burner and used Decrypter to read it in "File" mode. It read it flawlessly! Then used Shrink to shrink it. It's worth a try. :-)

If you have the latest versions of any of the above they will work.
Decrypt by itself, AnyDVD and anything, DVD43, and the new mini ripper dvdfab express. try it.

New build with goodies

Why is it that when I finish copying The Jacket I only have the director's comments or special features? I do not have the entire movie. I am using AnyDVD and Dvdshrink. Any assitance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

@smooth88

When you go to backup your movie in audio uncheck the AC3 2 channel in Shrink and just keep the 5.1 sound. Your standalone is probably defaulting to 2 channel which is where the director's comments are, try using your dvd standalone remote and hit the audio button and see if you can get rid of the comments. :~)

I'm having trouble with The Jacket too. Using AnyDVD+CloneDVD2, gets a CRC error at 9%. Tried DVD Decrypter / DVD Shrink too, no luck. Tried ISO & file modes, 2 different computers.

This is the first DVD that's failed to copy since I started using Any/Clone... Could be a bad disc I guess, it plays fine though.

Sounds like a bad disk, you can try cleaning it, or take it back and get another original. If you are getting the error on two computers it sounds bad. I did this movie awhile back but do not remember anything special about it. Probably used the usual combo of programs with AnyDVD.
