I am using a philips dvd+rw-d28 burner with dvd decryptor and memorex dvd+r disks. The fist backup i did was nfsu2 and it worked, then i tried starwars revenge sith, streetfootball vo2,grandtourismo4,nbastreet vo3 and mlb baseball 2006 they all didnt work. They would all take a long time to load there sounded like a strain on the laser they would frezze for 10 seconds then play for 1 and finally just die out after like 5 minutes. I copied all these games 3 times each. Im not sure if its a media problem because my first backup worked. My ps2 is a version 7 so i should be able to use dvd+r. Thank you for your help.

Memerex media is awful. Get some decent media like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, Sony, Phillips. The fact that the first back up worked was probably just pure luck.

yes, definitely get some better media. not only does memorex screw up all the time and rot on you, but it can kill your ps2 laser. protect your investment and buy good cheap media online, somwhere like http://www.newegg.com or http://www.meritline.com

what mod are you using?what burn speed did you use?

first thing to do is to clean your ps2 lens.its something you should do on a regular basis anyway.then you might adjust your burn speed. 2x is a good starting speed but 1x can work for games with large sizes.i know gt4 is a double layer game and hardly anybody has copied this game correctly.if a game is over 4gb you could try to make the game smaller then copy it.

try to do sensible stuff before you grasp at straws.you dont have to go online to get discs.the ones in the stores work fine.people say stuff they cant prove.like bad media will desrtoy your ps2 lens.ok which is the bad media and how does it destroy your lens, then?

Memorex is bad media as it is made by CMC magnetics. Cheap Taiwany crap. It knackers your lens because the dye they use on those Memorex is poor as it is, then sometimes it will be poorly spread and have dye defects. This makes it harder for your PS2 lens to read obviously. In turn, it will put more strain into trying to read the disk. Eventually, as it is using more strain then it should, the laser could die out. 99% chance is nothing to do with his lens, its the cheap Memorex thats the problem

what version is your swap magic?

you wont get gt4 or nba v3 to work even with better media.gt4 is doulbe layer and nba v3 has to be rebuilt(extracted) to work with swap magic.star wars 3 i believe is around 4gb so burning it at 1x would be a good idea.if you have swap magic 2.0 probably none of the games will work without doing something extra.that list of games are the same games alot of people are having trouble with using swap magic.

and you would clean your lens to eliminate any possibly of it being the problem.you have a v7 so it has some mileage on it.cleaning your lens would be a good idea.

Try burning at 4X. Thats the only speed I've ever had success with...

Edit:Also you might try using Taiyo Yuden DVDs. I used to use Verbatims with Swap Magic, but the loading times with them were too long, and they used to freeze(apparently just like yours). The problems stopped once I switched over to TY.
What kind of burner do you have?
