I was trying to copy medal of honor euro assault with decrypter, burning at 2X, but it runs very slowly then stops at the create new profile screen. The only thing i think I've done wrong is the read speed was at max. Does this make any difference to the backup?

The read speed really doesn't matter as long as the DVD you're ripping from doesn't have too many scratches.Just to be on the safe side, I'd try ripping at 4x, and then burning at either 4x or 2x. Make sure you're using reputable DVD media to burn, such as Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or Ritek media. I myself have had problems with Verbs, I dunno maybe my PS2 just hates them. What kind of burner are you using?

Ah well that appears to be your problem. Ritek G05s can't burn at 2X(at least I don't think thet can), and they're not the best media out there for backing up PS2 games. I suggest using Taiyo Yuden, Verbatims, and Ritek G04's.

Weird. Did you have to change the write strategies for your G05s to have them bun at 2x? If you did, thats not stable for burning... If you just bought them and they came like that, they may be fakes. I have Ritek G05s and they only burn at 4x,6x, and 8x, and after I updated the FW on my Pioneer DVR-109, I can also burn them at 12x, but definintely not at 2x.
If they indeed turn out to be fakes, then it is safe to say that movies will work fine on them, but games won't play...
Also G05's may work fine in PS2 backups for some people, but for others(such as me), they skip and freeze. Hope this helps

No I checked the manufacturer ID with DVD identifier, they are indeed Ritek G05s Quote: manufacturer ID: [RITEKG05]
Maybe you got fakes? I certainly didn't change the write strategies.

Well actually, the media codes(here, Ritek G05), can often be faked. I dunno how they do it but they do it...Anyway, like I've said, the slow running may be caused by discs which the PS2 sees as low quality, and cannot read... If anyone is out there, tell me!! Are Ritek G05's supposed to be written at 2X? Cuz if this is so it'll break apart my whole belief system. My whole burning career has been based on the fact that I started out with trusty reliable G05s.
:]
Anyway, all I can advise you, demonkill, is try some other brands, other than Riteks...Good luck...
