pc 1/2 booting up

Hope someone can help, my pc crashed the other day and now when trying to boot up there appears to be a amber light on the motherborad near the (ram/com) it says.

checked all the connection, changed ram taken out pci cards and everthing and cant find what the problem is.

Anyone have any ideas, thanx in advance

why it crash were you installing something or changing any hardware?
if your mobo has a diagnostic code or led then it should be a chart on mobos manual of those sings and alarms!

Does the CPU fan spinning? If not, does it twitch when power is first applied? If that fan is not turning then it may be time to buy new Mobo and processor. (this is an assumption)Yes could have just been the CPU but something made it go bad. Rather it be the CPU itself or the Mobo fried it (end of assumption). A piece of current hardware has died or something new is not compatible.

look at the cpu . . . . if it is not burned (you'll know when it is), put it back and take the motherboard out of the case - it may be short circuiting with the case itself.

otherwise, see if you have the warranty from acer.

time to buy a new mobo.

I have an asus a7n8x and it has broken down twice within two years of owning it. Not an uncommong experience.

You might want to contact acer support rather than this forum.
