I have been lurking here for quite a while and reading about all the programs you all use to rip and recode DVD's.
Now here is the thing! I was using UK Lighting's Decrypter and NERO recode2 and never had a problem. THEN!!!!
I had a total system crash (all scsi drives) and I started from scratch with Magic decoder and Prassi ONE to burn.
WHY DOES THIS WORK????????
I do not use AnyDVD or any other RSS software to kill the protection but this combo DOES WORK ,
WHY????
Prassi is not a RECORDER.
Try it for yourself if you have these two pieces of software.
THIS is NOT SPAM for these things. BTW :)

Sorry
But I ask this because If I take the same directory (and subs) into Nero or any other DVD burnning software it fails! unless I use a recoder like nero2.
Like I ask WHY? Prassi is not a recoder, or am I missing somethimg?

I am assuming that Magic decoder is a decrypter??

How many movies has this method worked for? I ask because if it's just a few, those may have been DVD5 (single layer) as originals and therefore not needing compression, just decryption.

I don't know where to get it but if you're looking for software I'd recommend DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. Both free and available here, also work great.
