POWER SURGE KILLED MY COMPUTER

I was online one night when I got hit with a power surge. It was connected to a Belkin power surge protector, but when the power came back on, my computer did not. Whenever I would try to turn it on, a faint blue light would come on (On the computer, the monitor is still blank) instead of the usual bright blue flashing light. I do not hear any sound such as the hard drive. I tried to plug the computer into another outlet in my house, and now no more blue light, absolutely nothing happens.

Do you guys think it is the power supply that went bad, the hard drive, or something that short circuited? Please help me, and Thanks in advance.

I think it's mother board. It could be power supply but I doubt because you see that light. If it's power supply then you wouldn't see or hear anything from your PC.

try a different psu as 12volts side might be gone whereas the 5volts is good as see the led. the psu or motherboard has a power good sensor so if psu is not working properly than no power

so you strongly believe it is the PSU? Cause, its a real pain to have to replace the motherboard.

right now points to psu but without trying another psu not positive. disconnect all power & data cables to drives. remove all cards & ram from motherboard than try to power up again

I have another computer. Could I use it's power supply? Will it be the same current? Right now both power supplies are set to 115 volts(the red stwitch on the back of the PSU). Is there anything else I should do before I try the test?

look at the motherboard for can shaped objects with metal tops, those are capacitors. are any domed?? try the other psu on the computer but only on the motherboard not the drives. make certain videocard & ram is installed

There are many of those can shaped objects in the computer, no of which are domed shaped. First you said to disconnect the RAM and Videocard, then in the last post you said to make sure they are installed. Which one should I do? im a bit confused.

if using old psu than remove ram & videocard so only thing left is motherboard, cpu & cpu heatsink & fan. on other psu can leave card & ram just to see if getting power for fans than install ram & videocard but disconnect power cord 1st
