Hi, my first atempt at backing up a game was with verbatim +R 8X disks, but resulted in very slow reading from my ps2, so what media have you made successfull backups with so i can get some new disks to try.
Thanks

The following list is in preference order. The best discs are near the top of the list. The discs at
the bottom of the list are suitable only for a landfill.
Almost flawless burns with 95-100% reliable results:
PVC = Pioneer = (-R)(-RW)
MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<--VERBATIM
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)
Decent discs, though not perfect, about 85-95%
success rate:
RICOHJPN = Ritek or Ricoh = (+R)
SONYD04 = Sony = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
PRODISC = Prodisc Media = (+RW)
INFODISC = Infodisc Media = (+RW)
RITEKG04 = Ritek = (-R)
RITEKG03 = Ritek = (-R)
OPTODISC = Optodisc = (-R)
Quality can be very questionable, about 50-80% success rate:
LEADDATA or LD01 or LD or LEDA = Lead Data = (-R)(-RW)
PRINCO = Princo = (-R)(-RW)
RITEK = Ritek = (-RW)
ONIDTECH = OnidTech = (-R)
Pathetic garbage media, landfill material, about 0-50% success rate:
RITEKG01, RITEKG02 = Ritek = (-R)
PIODATA = Lead Data = (-R) ... often sold as "Pioneer OEM" but that's false
Unbranded PIO = Fake Pioneer = (-R) ... often sold as "Pioneer OEM" but that's false
Unbranded SONY = Fake Sony = (-R)
Unbranded MXL = Fake MXL = (-R)
ACCU = Unknown OEM = (-R)
LONGTEN = Unknown OEM = (-R)
AN31, AN32, ANWELL, AN30 = Unknown OEM = (-R)
OPTODISC = Optodisc = (+R)(+RW)
MATRIX = Unknown OEM = (-R)
CMC = CMC Magnetics = (+R)(-R)
ANYTHING ELSE = Unknown OEM or NEW

It all sounds good I just wanted to add that alot of people seem too like the verbatim with the izo dye.
Also my maxell MXl RG03 discs are all pixelated (when burning movies)useing my sony burner. {i never tried this media on games)
They are the colered ones.
I allways use vebatim +R the ones that look like a reel.
Loading times do allways seem be a little longer with backups.
There is A lot more info on media in this forum.

Ritek G05 media is crap, you might as well have gotten Memorex media...
Here is a list of the highest quality media you can buy...
1) Taiyo Yudon (considered the god of all media) (many fakes made, make sure you are getting the real thing!)
2) Ritek w/ G03/G04 (with Ricoh) (many fakes made, make sure you are getting the real thing!)
3) Verbatim (with MCC dye)
4) Sony
5) Fuji MIJ

Or if you live in America, you can get a 100pk. of Ty's on http://www.supermediastore.com for around $35.
Solidus90, Verbatim dvd's always use atleast a somewhat quality dye, even on their cheaper dvd's, so don't worry to much about it.
