I had a sony dvd burner that burned everything I got even on generic disks. Now I have a memorex Dual Layer burner and I can get maybe 1 good burn per 8 disks I use. I'm still using generic and memorex DVD's (Which worked before)but can hardly ever get a good burn. Is it just that the sony was good for cheap dvd's and now I need to use fuji and ritek now to get it to work properly or is this burner just a POS that I need to return?

Thanks for the info. About the Sony, I gave it to my Dad, about the speeds. I burn them at 1x and 2x and 2.5x, none of the speeds work. I even tried 8x in case for some strange reason it would work that way but with no luck.
Any help would be great. I'm going to best buy today to get some fuji
4x did the same thing, the border goes blue (usually meaning a good load) in dvd swap, but the game doesn't load....does that just mean it's a bad copy of the game? Also anyone have any idea if a memorex DL burner is just a bad burner ofr ps2 backups?
I have the fliptop mod, I am using swap magic 2.0 I think maybe it's out of date and I already ordered swap magic 3.6
Also It's more than one game, it's a few, I don't know if it was a bad rip or if my dvd burner sucks now but I'll know soon, I'm grabbing my sony back out of my dads machine tomorrow and testing the ones that don't work right now.
2.0 is really outdated.alot of new games need cdloader to work with 2.0.some say they even need a patch?get cdloader from http://www.swapmagicfix.com/ and see if any of the games work.i know you said youre getting 3.6 soon but in the meantime you could mess around with cdloader and see if you can get any of them to play.remember to get the cdloader that matches your verion number.thay have instructions on the site on how to burn and use cdloader.
stop useing memorex disk,I too have a memorex Dual Layer burner and witched over to verbatim disk,and I burn at 2.5x and have never had one bad burn yet
