I just copy the vob's to the hd, and it will pop up with the error in the middle. Note that the vob's that i try to copy are on Datawrite dvd's which has been just copied from the Nero. When i put the dvd into an other drive it works just fine.

The NEC isn't known to be really good at copying or ripping DVD's, but they are awesome burners! :-) As long as you have another DVD ROM to rip from you should be using that anyway. They are faster, better at ripping, and it will save on life of your more expensive DVD writer. If you were to use better media though you probably would be able to use the NEC just fine.

Cheers

A very good DVD Rom drive would be a LiteOn http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827131407
only around $20 and they read just about anything except maybe a pancake.. It might read that too :-)

As far as media goes the only sure proof media I can reccomend in TayioYuden, but there are plenty of other good brands out there. Verbatim, Maxell, Sony should be fine..

Cheers
