I downloaded one of my old mortal kombat movies that I lost a while ago from Limewire and was wondering how to raise the quality if possible.

Not really. You can't make gold from aluminum.....as I like to say. Which basically means, that you can only make your dvd as good as the source. That's part of the problem with downloading from P2P, is that many people don't know how to properly compress a video so that it is still of decent quality if someone want's to reencode it back to DVD format.

depending on how bad the quality is ..... to start with ..... that is. You can use Nero Vission Express 3 and use the export function instead of burning right to your dvd and save it to your hard drive first. My girlfriend and I have had some good luck using this method to help improve the quality of some movie downlads depending on the quality to begin with as it can only do so much. Give it a try and let me know how it worked.

Well IF you want to spend alot time on restoring/improving quality , you can try running the movies thru higher end encoders such as CCE/ProCoder2 and even TMPEG will do the job. but as it was said earlier : if the source is total junk no amount of reencoding is going fix it to look like a DVD. and if it was a dvd source in the first place, you'll improve the quality maybe enuff so its not so noticable.

To clean up the quality you gotta figure out what is wrong and than select the encoder you want to use : CCE, ProCoder etc. after that, determind what features in the encoder to use to correct what is wrong ie selecting filters, corrections of the GOP , AR

Lot of work and requires a working knowledge of the basics of encoding/video editing plus a knoweledge of your chosen encoder
